Tideline — Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 20, 2026

Tideline ("the app") is a tide and tidal-current viewer. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information. In short: the app does not collect, store, or share any personal information on our servers — because there are no servers. The app has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party trackers.

Location

If you choose to use the "nearest station" feature, the app requests permission to access your device's approximate location. Your coordinates are used only on your device to calculate which tide station is closest to you. Your location is never transmitted to the developer or to any third party, and is not stored. Granting location access is optional; you can use the app by searching for or selecting stations manually.

Data the app stores on your device

Your favorite stations and your last-viewed station are saved locally on your device so the app can restore them. This information stays on your device and is removed if you uninstall the app.

Network requests

The app retrieves tide predictions, tidal-current predictions, water-level observations, and station information from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) CO-OPS service at tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov. These requests contain only station identifiers and dates — they do not include your location or any personal information. Your use of NOAA's data is subject to NOAA's own terms and privacy practices.

Children's privacy

The app is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
